Jacques in Analogue: Dilated Horizon EP
Jacques in Analogue is the musical side project of Scott Brothers. Created as if it were the soundtrack to an unrealized science fiction film, Dilated Horizon is a five track song cycle that describes the arrival of a group of telepathic beings who tap into our thoughts over the course of one day.
“The idea with this EP, and indeed the Fading Machine imprint, is to explore the places where sound and visual elements like animation, photography, design, all intersect. And then, how they merge with some sort of story line. I wanted to create a space that you could live in, however briefly. Where everything was working toward a certain aesthetic. It started with wanting to create some songs and went from there.”
The EP is a heady mix of various genres including ambient, library music, trip hop, film music and a bit of shoegazing for good measure. Influenced as much by John Carpenter as the intro music to Britain’s long running series, Open University, Dilated Horizon is as strange as it is familiar.
